Espen Øino Designing World’s Largest 281 Meter Private Superyacht: Superyacht designer Espen Øino is working on a project that will reportedly become the world’s largest private superyacht. The 281.8-meter Njord, named after the Norse god of the seas and winds, will contain 118 private residences and is under development with Ocean Residences.
Although a shipyard has not yet been named, discussions are reportedly well underway with a target delivery of 2024. Njord will have 12 decks, a 33.5-meter beam and a massive, 81,000 GT interior.

In addition to the 118 residences, which will be available for purchase, accommodation will include 16 guest and butler suites. The residences will have 20 different configurations, ranging from two to six bedrooms totaling 116 to 800 square meters.
Designed to maximize privacy, each apartment will have a living room with sea views and access to open terraces. Owners will also have the opportunity to customize their apartments by choosing furnishings and interior décor.

Ocean Residence considers Njord to be part of the next generation of private superyachts and home to a community of like-minded individuals who love travel and sharing extraordinary experiences.
The vessel will also have equipment to undertake scientific and oceanographic research during its annual circumnavigation of the world. Every year, Njord will journey to remote and culturally unique locations to collect environmental and marine data and to support a range a range of philanthropic missions, charities and causes. Data will be made available to international research laboratories.
A fully fitted oceanographic research laboratory staffed by research scientists will be on board along with a gyroscopic telescope to scan the night sky. Drones will monitor the atmosphere. Underwater drones and Njord’s two submersibles will map the ocean floor using multi-beam echo sounders to identify shipwrecks ad seabed features.
Owners and guests will have exclusive use of two Airbus ACH 160 helicopters, each with eight seats and a range of 400 nautical miles.
As one would expect, Njord will have an impressive list of luxury amenities, including multiple outdoor terraces, a sundeck, two outdoor pools, an indoor hydro pool, extensive wellness facilities, a nightclub and jazz lounge. The telescope observatory lounge will sit on the upper deck.
